Model PO1600UPSX9 — engineered for sleep therapy

The only CPAP battery designed so your therapy never has to stop.

Most CPAP batteries are an emergency you reach for in the dark. The Portable Outlet X9 isn't. Your CPAP plugs into the X9, the X9 plugs into the wall, and the battery stays fully charged around the clock. When grid power fails — a thunderstorm, a hurricane, a tripped breaker at 3 a.m. — the X9 takes over without a flicker. You don't wake up. You don't get up. Your pressure doesn't drop. Therapy simply continues.

Three things make the X9 fundamentally different

A CPAP battery has one job: deliver clean, reliable power to a medical device that keeps you breathing through the night. The X9 is engineered to all three of the standards that job actually requires.

True Uninterruptible Power Supply

The X9 sits between your wall outlet and your CPAP. It conditions power continuously, so when the grid drops, the battery is already carrying the load. Switchover is instantaneous and seamless, no pressure interruption, no alarm, no waking up.

Pure Sine Wave power

The cleanest, most stable waveform, identical to what comes out of your home outlet. It protects the precision motors, blower assemblies, humidifiers, and control boards inside your therapy device. Modified sine wave batteries can cause heat, noise, and cumulative damage.

IEC 60601-1-2 certified

The same international medical-electronics standard ResMed AirSense and AirCurve devices are certified to. Tests include extreme heat, mechanical shock, vibration, and electrical overload. This is not a consumer power bank with a medical-looking label.

What "uninterruptible" actually means

The term gets used loosely. Here's the difference between a true UPS and what most "CPAP batteries" actually do when the lights go out.

Portable Outlet X9

You never know the power went out

Your CPAP is plugged into the X9 every night. The X9 is plugged into the wall. The battery is always charged and always in the circuit. When utility power fails, the battery silently takes over in the same instant. Your machine doesn't restart, your mask pressure doesn't drop, and you stay asleep. When power comes back, the X9 quietly recharges itself — still powering your CPAP the whole time.

Standalone CPAP batteries

You wake up. You find it. You swap.

A standalone battery sits in a closet or drawer until you need it. When the power goes out, the CPAP turns off — pressure drops, the mask seal can break, and many users wake up gasping. You then have to locate the battery, unplug your CPAP from the wall, find the right adapter, plug it into the battery, and restart therapy. By that point, you're awake. And most of these batteries cannot recharge while powering a CPAP — once they're drained, they're done until you plug them back into the wall.

Unlike competitor CPAP batteries, the X9 accepts a standard 110-volt plug — which means you connect your CPAP using the original power supply that shipped in the box with your machine. That single design choice protects your manufacturer warranty, eliminates the adapter shelf, and means the X9 will still work with whatever therapy device you upgrade to five years from now.

Works with every sleep therapy device — and most home medical equipment

The X9 has a standard 110-volt AC outlet on the side. If your device plugs into a wall, it plugs into the X9. No proprietary connectors. No adapter hunting. No risk of the wrong DC voltage damaging your motor.

When the X9 earns its place on your nightstand

Sleep apnea doesn't pause for weather, travel, or grid problems - The X9 is built for the moments when therapy can't wait either:

Scenario 01

The overnight blackout

A summer storm knocks out power at 2 a.m. Without the X9, your CPAP cycles off and the pressure drop wakes you. With the X9 already in the circuit, the battery takes over instantly — your machine never registers the outage, and you'll learn about it from your phone in the morning. Provides 10 to 12 hours of standard CPAP therapy on a single charge.

Scenario 02

Long-haul flights and red-eyes

The X9 meets TSA and FAA carry-on guidelines for lithium-ion batteries. Used with a travel CPAP like the ResMed AirMini, it delivers 16+ hours of in-flight or in-cabin therapy — enough for a transatlantic or transpacific flight, plus a layover, plus the first night at your destination before you can charge again.

Scenario 03

International travel without a transformer

Auto-switching input voltage from 100V to 240V means the X9 charges in any country with just a plug-shape adapter — no bulky step-down transformer required. The optional EU wall cord makes European trips even cleaner.

Scenario 04

Camping, RVs, and off-grid nights

Pair the X9 with the optional Portable Outlet solar panel or 12V car charger and you have a complete off-grid sleep therapy system. Charge the battery from your vehicle's accessory port during the day's drive; use it overnight at the campsite; refill with sunlight in the morning.

Frequently asked questions

Will the Portable Outlet X9 work with my CPAP?
Yes. The X9 powers every brand and model of CPAP and BiPAP on the market — ResMed AirSense 10 and 11, AirCurve, AirMini, Philips DreamStation, React Health Luna, Transcend, Z2 Auto, and others. Because the X9 has a standard 110V AC outlet, you plug your CPAP in using the original manufacturer power supply that came in the box with your machine. No adapters required, no compatibility lookup, and no risk to your manufacturer's warranty.
How long will the X9 power my CPAP overnight?
A fully charged X9 delivers approximately 10 to 12 hours of CPAP therapy with standard tubing and a low humidity setting — enough for a full night plus comfortable margin. On travel CPAPs like the ResMed AirMini, runtime extends to 16+ hours. Higher pressure settings, heated tubing, and high humidity will reduce runtime — at peak settings, expect 6 to 8 hours. The OLED display on the front of the X9 shows real-time battery percentage so you always know where you stand.
What does "true Uninterruptible Power Supply" actually mean?
A true UPS keeps your CPAP continuously powered, even through a blackout. Your CPAP plugs into the X9, the X9 plugs into the wall, and the battery stays charged 24/7. When grid power fails, the X9 takes over in the same instant — there's no gap, no restart, and no pressure drop on your mask. Most other "CPAP batteries" are standalone backups that require you to wake up, find the battery, unplug your CPAP, plug it into the battery, and restart therapy. The X9 eliminates that entire sequence.
Is the X9 safe for use with medical devices?
Yes. The X9 is certified to IEC 60601-1-2, the international electromagnetic compatibility standard for medical electrical equipment — the same standard ResMed AirSense and AirCurve devices are certified to. It uses Pure Sine Wave technology, which is the clean, stable waveform manufacturers like ResMed specifically recommend for their devices. The X9 is also backed by a $10,000 Safe CPAP Power Guarantee: if the battery ever damages your CPAP, BiPAP, BiPAP ASV, or BiPAP ST, Portable Outlet will replace your therapy device up to $10,000.
Why does Pure Sine Wave matter for a CPAP?
Pure Sine Wave is the same waveform that comes out of your home wall outlet — smooth, stable, and predictable. Cheaper batteries output modified sine wave power, which has a stepped, square-edged waveform. Modified sine wave can work with simple resistive loads like a lamp, but it stresses precision electronics like the variable-speed blower motors, humidifier heating elements, and microprocessors inside a CPAP. Over time, that stress can cause heating, audible noise, performance degradation, and shortened device lifespan. ResMed has explicitly published recommendations that batteries used with their devices should be Pure Sine Wave.
Can I take the X9 on an airplane?
Yes. The X9 meets TSA and FAA guidelines for carry-on lithium-ion batteries. It must be packed in your carry-on bag, not checked luggage — this is true of all lithium batteries above a certain size, not specific to the X9. The included documentation makes it easy to answer any questions at security. With a travel CPAP like the ResMed AirMini, the X9 provides enough runtime for transatlantic and transpacific flights.
Will the X9 work internationally?
Yes. The X9 has auto-switching input that handles 100V through 240V — the full range of voltages used worldwide. Plug it into a wall outlet in Europe, Asia, Australia, or anywhere else with just a plug-shape adapter. No bulky step-down transformer required. Portable Outlet also sells an optional EU wall cord that eliminates the need for a plug adapter on European trips.
Is the Portable Outlet X9 FSA or HSA eligible?
Yes. The X9 qualifies as an eligible medical expense under both FSA and HSA plans. You can pay with your FSA or HSA debit card directly at checkout, or pay with another card and submit the receipt for reimbursement. Most customers save 20 to 35 percent depending on their tax bracket.
Can the X9 power my portable oxygen concentrator?
The X9 charges all major portable oxygen concentrators on the market, and it can continuously power shoulder-carry POCs such as the Inogen One, Caire FreeStyle, and Philips Respironics SimplyGo. Larger continuous-flow POCs typically draw more power than any portable battery can sustain for extended periods, so the X9 is best used to recharge those units between use rather than to run them around the clock.
What other medical equipment can the X9 power?
In addition to CPAP and BiPAP, the X9 powers home ventilators including the Trilogy series and ResMed Astral, nebulizers, and most automated peritoneal dialysis machines (APMs). If your device plugs into a standard 110V wall outlet and draws within the X9's continuous output rating, the X9 will run it.
What's included in the box?
Every X9 ships with the battery itself (model PO1600UPSX9), a slim universal AC power cord, a durable travel bag sized to hold both the battery and cord together, and a printed instruction guide. Optional accessories — solar panel, car charger inverter, 12V fast-charging cable, EU wall cord — are sold separately.
What's the warranty?
One year from the date of purchase, backed by Portable Outlet. The warranty covers manufacturing defects and battery performance. Separately, the $10,000 Safe CPAP Power Guarantee covers damage to your therapy device caused by the X9 (a layer of protection unique to Portable Outlet).
